I’ve always had a soft spot for coffee - and after so long, I finally got to collaborate with the lovely people behind Cafe Salamat on this. It’s super sudden (next weekend!) but if you are interested to attend one of the last few workshops I’ll be doing for this year, then you should definitely check this out.
(surprise, surprise!)

Coffee-tivity is a lettering workshop for a cause in collaboration between Abbey Sy and Cafe Salamat Community Co. for the benefit of Coffee AID, an organization of backyard coffee growers in Atok, Benguet.

The workshop will be an introduction to basic hand lettering, and will be held at Cordillera Coffee, a social enterprise proudly promoting organically-grown, fair-trade beans from CoffeeAID farmers.

Fee is P1500 and is inclusive of handouts, materials, snacks, and fair-trade coffee.

*A portion of proceeds will be donated to Coffee AID (Assistance for Indigenous Development), for farm maintenance as well as educational materials for the farmers’ children.

SIGN UP HERE. Limited slots only, so go!

PS In other news, see you all later at Type Kita from 11-7pm! :)

Living in Lumia

Full article here.

For me, life’s all about seizing opportunities and making the most of what I can with what I have - and I love how the Lumia 530 helps me do just that. Which is why I’d love you to share the same experience with me as I’m giving away five (5) Lumia 530 phones c/o Young Star and Nokia Philippines!

Comment on this Instagram post to join. Looking forward to see all your responses and good luck! :)

Hello!

See you all at the Type Kita exhibit happening this weekend, October 18-19. Super duper excited because even if I’m in full on work mode on both days, it’s going to be the kind of work that I get to enjoy — can’t wait to see all my fellow artists, some readers and maybe meet new people as well. The Type Kita community has definitely grown from last March and I’m looking forward to see what’s in store for the typography community in the Philippines.

Here are some activities I’ll be part of:

EXHIBIT

I’m collaborating once again with my friends from Archetype for 3 art pieces. We did food this time and tried our hand at witty sayings and attempted to achieve a “diner” feel to our work.

It’s also my first time to do solo pieces and here’s one of them!

You’ll get to see the other one at the event. :)

MADE BY ABC BOOTH

I’m having a booth on both days. Would love to meet you all!

I’ll have my notebooks, stickers and prints up for sale, as well as this 2015 calendar I collaborated with Shutter Panda on. :) It’ll probably be my last time selling this year (the rest will be online), so don’t miss it! You can do your early Christmas shopping then.

HAND LETTERING HANGOUT

I’ll be doing a type demo this Sunday alongside fellow letterers Ella Lama and John Ed De Vera. This session is for free and we’ll show you our tips and tricks to creating our lettering pieces. Just bring your materials and be there at 2pm. :)

Also, check out this article on 8List that gives you more reasons to drop by Type Kita this weekend (written by my friend Tricie!).

Hope to see you all there! You can find more information on directions and other activities here
